At Swiss Green Projects (SGP), we are driven by a mission: to bring sustainable solutions and essential support to vulnerable communities. Since 2019, our presence in Camarines Norte, particularly in the municipalities of Mercedes and Labo, has allowed us to address major challenges in a region marked by high rates of malnutrition and persistent health issues. Our initiatives align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6, aiming to ensure access to clean, sustainably managed water and essential services for all.
1. Access to Clean Water for All
In October 2019, SGP signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Municipality of Labo to install 52 Swiss-made water filtration units across each Barangay (district) in the city, serving thousands of residents. These units provide safe, drinkable water, essential for public health, while also creating local jobs. Women from the community are trained to maintain these machines and manage water distribution, thus fostering local empowerment and resilience.
2. Relief Efforts During the COVID-19 Pandemic
During the COVID-19 crisis, SGP ramped up its efforts by distributing essential goods to elderly people and those with disabilities in Mercedes and Labo. Thanks to the exceptional dedication of our volunteers, these distributions were carried out despite challenging conditions. Masks were also provided to local security forces, quarantine officers, and Barangay officials, ensuring the safety of those protecting the community.
3. Support for Education and Community Engagement
SGP is actively involved in supporting the education of future generations. In 2019, we contributed to the opening of the E’Obmana Elementary School in Brigada Eskwela, providing essential supplies and organizing activities to prepare the school alongside parents, children, and teachers. We also financed the Linggo ng Wika school program, helping young learners build a strong foundation for their future.
4. Fighting Malnutrition through Feeding Programs
Malnutrition is a significant issue in this region, and in 2019, SGP organized a feeding program in San Roque, providing meals, drinks, and small gifts to over 70 children and their families. These efforts support families in need and improve children’s health, contributing to a healthier future for the community.
5. Local Partnerships for Sustainable Solutions
Our work would not have been possible without the support of dedicated volunteers and local partners, including Mr. Erjon Grobates and his group D.A.T.U., along with community members like Harold Reyes, Monette Gomez, and Josephine Butic. Through this solidarity, we continue to bring hope and resources to the people of Camarines Norte.
SGP remains committed to making a lasting impact and supporting vulnerable communities. You can be part of this journey by joining us or learning how to contribute. Together, let’s continue to make a difference.
